Testimonials
"As a ministry student, Steve provided a dynamic environment to learn, develop, and practice pastoral skills. From preaching, liturgy, program planning, meeting with leadership, and public engagement, he shed light on the interweaving of the practical and the sacred. Steve was readily available with insights and questions for deeper discernment of my sense of call and particular voice for ministry. His theological prowess and wealth of experience proved valuable as I navigated the range of ministry demands, challenges, and opportunities. Steve's direct communication, vision of a just world, and strategic community building continue to be a guiding presence."

"As a second career pastor, my prior experience as a thirty plus year higher education administrator was so different that it did not prepare me for the many areas of responsibility a full-time pastor has. It has been quite an adjustment, yet the adjustment is something Steve has navigated yourself along his journey. His vast experience with student pastors has also facilitated a nurturing coaching experience that builds upon my seminary studies. In the midst of challenges, his wisdom has helped me to keep Jesus as the center of all I do, while focusing on a scriptural basis in addressing issues reframes them so that I prayerfully respond rather than react in the heat of a moment. I especially appreciate his regular questions about how I am honoring my Sabbath time. I know that is an area I still need to work on, but I appreciate knowing that he has encountered the same question himself, because the important work of the Lord and congregation is ever present. A few of Steve's catch phrases serve as gentle reminders. I have a note on my desk that says, “Frog in a kettle.” It reminds me to put on the armor of God and not to allow status quo to breed complacency, rather I need to continue to speak the truth in love and not sweep things under the carpet. Issues need to 'see the sunshine.' I would highly recommend Pastor Steve as a clergy mentor for a new pastor or for a pastor who has a difficult situation to navigate. Thanks again for journeying with me. "

"Clergy coaching with Steve is one of the best things you can do to strengthen your ministry. His years of parish experience provide deep theological grounding to clarify and integrate the complex and sometimes confusing roles pastor’s carry in the practice of ministry. Steve has helped me frame and reframe ideas that increase my confidence in my work as a judicatory leader. He has great tips and insights to compassionately encourage and push colleagues to the best expressions of themselves in the world God has called them to do."

"Steve excudes the qualities of a mentor and consultant almost instantly. He is highly educated, has lengthy experience, and possesses natural wisdom as well. Yet, he maintains a curiousity that many in his field have long forgotten, to the detriment of their clients. Combining ecclesiastical understandings, multi denominational experience, academic depth, and an authentic character of caring; I don’t think you can find a better person to help pastors and congregations dive deeper and reach higher in spiritual growth and covenantal understandings.
